My job is mind-numbingly boring and so my thoughts wander,
And the idea I was playing with the other day to keep my brain occupied was this: What if Jack Harkness somehow got onto Serenity? Just imagine it. Discuss.
If Jack joined the Serenity….

Well, I imagined things a bit differently…First of all, I picture this all as a lost episode of “Firefly,” rather than being post-“serenity.” I don’t think Jack would worry too much about sitting back and letting Mal captain his own ship, so no dickswinging. Jack can be respectful enough when it’s called for. He’d get on board somehow, either unexpectedly through some technical malfunction with his transporter-wrist-thing, or as some random traveler they pick up in some spaceport somewhere. Of course, he’d make friends with Kaylee first—doesn’t everyone?—and his flirtatiousness would just tickle her pink, in no small part because it would make Simon jealous. River would be aloof and slightly distainful of him at first because she’d sense there was something strange about him, and because he’s so cavalier. Between his jealousy and River’s attitude, I think Simon would make himself awful scarce around Jack until, in some crisis, he caught a glimpse of Jack’s more noble and heroic side. There would be a long night at some spaceport bar with a couple of drinks and long talks, about Jack’s story, Simon’s story, and River’s; they’d each see the other more fully. After that, they’d start to connect and eventually grow to a strong bond based on mutual respect. River would eventually try to argue with Jack about something—expecting, as usual, to immediately outwit her opponent and win the argument—but it would turn out that Jack was also highly knowledgeable on the subject, and River and he would eventually end up spending lots of time discussing technical and sophisticated things, and get along fine. As far as the rest of the crew goes…Now, maybe it was just me, but it seemed like the guys in Firefly were much more, shall we say, traditional? So I think there would be some discomfort to start with. Jack would flirt with Inara a little, but very quickly see and understand the Mal/Inara situation without having to be told. Jack and Inara would become “girlfriends,” hanging out together to complain about men, lament Mal’s idiocy, and maybe even go shopping. I think they’d only ever be friends. Mal, however, would be slightly uncomfortable—jealous like Simon, but a hell of a lot less obvious about it, and probably not fully aware his own self. Jack would just make it worse by flirting with Mal ALL THE DAMN TIME just to watch him get all flustered and thrown off, and Inara would draw a great deal of amusement from this which would just make Jack flirt harder. They’d both laugh to themselves behind their poor captain’s back, but not in a cruel way. One night as everyone is sitting down to dinner, not long after Jack arrives, Jack would try flirting with Zoe, Wash would get all indignant, then he’d switch the charm to Wash who would be flustered and then flattered and then confused, and it would be adorable like Wash always is. Apart from the occasional suggestion of a threesome, I think Jack would respect their love and leave them both be. Jayne and Jack would take a very long time to trust each other, and would occasionally get into pissing contests until Zoe wandered by to offer them each a ruler. They’d glower at each other and walk away. Eventually there’d be some thrilling heroics and they come to trust each other, however grudgingly. Jack would be disappointed at Jayne’s thorough straightness. Book would just shake his head and sigh a lot.
So someone tell me how the whole “BARROWMAN! *fist shake*” thing got started.
I really, really, really, REALLY, REALLY hope they get back around to this, because I would LOVE for that to become canon. Please, Moffat, pretty please? (Source: genehunts)
Can someone please tell me where in the timeline of Doctor Who the first episode of Torchwood falls?
Sometime after Nine regenerates, I take it….
